The honest version

What people praise

  • Reports finish in about 60 seconds, so the answer arrives while the question still matters.
  • Every finding carries a confidence score. Possible matches are labelled possible, never stated as fact.
  • Searches are private. The person being looked up is never notified.

What people complain about

  • Billing surprise. The $3.99 trial becomes a $29.99 weekly plan when it ends unless you cancel. We say so at checkout and in the welcome email, and cancelling takes under a minute.
  • Thin reports. Some numbers simply have little public data tied to them. Adding a name, email or photo usually strengthens the match.
  • Wrong-person matches. When paid providers return nothing we fall back to weaker web signals, and a low-confidence name can be the wrong one. That is what the confidence score is for.

How these reviews are collected

Every review on this page comes from a paying customer, asked once, right after payment, on the screen where the report is being built. A one- to three-star rating goes to the customer care team as private feedback and is part of the totals below, not of the cards above. Since September 2026 a four- or five-star tap opens an independent review platform, where the review is written. The cards above were written from September 2026 on Reviews.io, marked verified by invitation and shown here unedited, and before that inside the product on the same screen. Nothing is bought, incentivised or solicited off-site.

A customer can be asked once, ever. There is no second ask after a better report, so the set cannot be topped up with a nicer one later.

This page shows the four- and five-star reviews. It is not our average score: 330 customers rated us through the in-product ask alone, and the one- to three-star ratings are part of that number. Reviews whose text is not an endorsement are left off rather than reworded, and every review is published verbatim, typos included.

The name next to a review is the one the customer confirmed when they wrote it, shown exactly as they gave it; reviews from before September 2026 carry no name. A country is shown only when at least two independent records of where the customer was at purchase agree and none contradicts them: the country their internet connection came from when they paid, the billing country of their card, and the country of the bank that issued it. Otherwise the review shows no country. Neither is ever added by us, and no review carries a photo. The five faces at the top of this page are our own customer care team, not customers.

Common questions

Are StoryCheck reviews real?

Yes. StoryCheck reviews come from paying customers, asked once, right after their report. The reviews on this page were written on Reviews.io, an independent review platform, where each one is marked verified by invitation, and, before September 2026, inside the product with a 1-to-5 star ask and a comment box, and 330 customers rated StoryCheck that way, 173 of them five stars and 44 four stars. Every review on storycheck.com/reviews is copied character for character, including the typos. The name next to a review is the one the customer confirmed when they wrote it, and the country is shown only when independent records of where they were at purchase agree; StoryCheck never adds either.

What do StoryCheck reviews say?

The most common praise in StoryCheck reviews is speed and clarity: customers write that the report came back fast, that the confidence scores made it clear what was certain and what was a possible match, and that the search stayed private. The most common complaint is billing surprise, where a customer did not expect the $3.99 trial to convert to $29.99 a week. The second most common is a thin report on a phone number with very little public data attached to it.

How does StoryCheck collect reviews?

Immediately after payment, on the screen where the report is being built, the customer care team shows a five-star ask. A four- or five-star tap opens an independent review platform's form for that order, where the customer writes the public review under the name they confirm; a one- to three-star rating goes to the customer care team as private feedback instead. A customer who has been asked is never asked again, whatever they answered, and no discount, credit or free lookup is offered in exchange for a review.

Is StoryCheck legit?

Yes. StoryCheck is a real service that builds reports from licensed phone-intelligence providers, public records and open-web signals. It charges $3.99 for a 3-day or 7-day trial and then $29.99 per week, and it can be cancelled online in under a minute with no phone call. StoryCheck is not a consumer reporting agency, so its reports cannot be used for employment, tenant, credit or insurance screening.

What do customers complain about in StoryCheck reviews?

Billing surprise is the most common complaint: the $3.99 trial automatically becomes a $29.99 weekly plan when it ends unless it is cancelled. This is stated at checkout and in the welcome email, and cancelling takes under a minute at any time. The second most common complaint is a thin report, which happens when a number has very little public data tied to it; adding a name, email or photo to the search usually strengthens the match.

How much does StoryCheck cost?

StoryCheck costs $3.99 for a 3-day or 7-day trial that includes 1 lookup, then $29.99 per week for 10 lookups. The trial length depends on the search, and the checkout shows it before payment. It can be cancelled at any time before the trial ends, in which case nothing more than the $3.99 is charged.

Where can I leave a StoryCheck review?

Customers are asked for a review inside the product, on the screen shown right after payment. Feedback can also be sent to the team at any time through the support form at storycheck.com/support, which is read by the same customer care team that sends the review ask.
